There are three main types of
communication that transpire in a community:
- Discussions: Any member may begin
a discussion and include text, graphics and video. Other members may
then add their comments, creating a discussion thread. Discussions
are a great way for companies to uncover problems, identify opportunities
and test ideas.
- Articles: Any member may post
articles to the community and other members may then comment on those
articles. Any public web page can become an article for the
community, all you need is its web address. Articles are a great way
to gauge opinions.
- Events: Any member may schedule
an event and keep track of those who will attend. Members may leave
comments relating to the event. Events may take place online or in
the real world and are a great way to bring your community members
together.
Once a week, a news update is emailed to
members with a summary of all community activity and content additions.
Links take the reader directly into the community content of interest.
The news email is a great way to keep a busy audience updated on their
specific interests.
